History
In 1997, Aiken Christian Elementary School began as a result of several families encouraging Linda Anderson to start a school. In 2003 the school merged with Aiken Christian School, which also started in 1997. In 2005, however, due to financial and facility issues, the decision was made to close the elementary portion of the school. Many families approached the elementary teachers of the school about continuing to teach their children. As a result of this urging, four of the Faith Christian teachers, Linda Anderson, Hope Courtney, Debbie Eaves, and Joanie Marbert decided to co‑partner in forming a new school.
Faith Christian School opened its doors in the 2005/2006 school year at Foreman Memorial Baptist Church in New Ellenton. They sought the assistance of South Carolina Association of Christian Schools help them get started. God has grown a school dedicated to equipping young Christians for a joyful and abundant life. In everything we do, it is the calling of FCS to honor God
Governance
The school operates under the guidance of a School Board of Directors, consisting of the teachers partnering in leadership, and two to three parents, selected by a questionnaire and interview process. It seeks to ensure that Board members fulfill the scriptural requirements of Christian leaders and role models. (I Timothy 3) The teachers are selected in a similarly diligent manner.
Educational Philosophy
The
educational philosophy of Faith Christian School depends upon the
Bible to provide the viewpoint for interpreting any subject or school
activity. The entire process of education is seen as a means used
by God to bring the student to Himself through personal faith in
Christ, and to develop a Christian mind so He can fulfill God's will
for his life vocationally and personally. The mandate for Christian
education comes from God's command that children are to be taught
to love God and to give Him preeminence in their lives, and from
the Biblical teaching that parents are responsible for the total
education of their children.
